We would prefer not to
We would prefer not to
We would prefer not to is at once a celebration of a paradox and a procession across London, targeting the two forces that have bearing on the public and private spaces of the city; extreme housing speculation and state digital communications surveillance. Through an excess of collective production tuning into both the physical and digital realms using a technique known as ‘spoofing,’ the project aims to force the city’s 24/7 productive mode into a sleep mode, making space in turn to accommodate collective unproductive activities, such as sleeping. For sleep is one of the few remaining experiences where, knowingly or not, we abandon ourselves to the care of others.
